Creative Printmaking (Adult course - all levels welcome)
Learn how to carve and create your own prints from handmade plates, carved blocks and more! Learn about contemporary printmakers while trying your hand at different printmaking methods. Create multiple editions on paper resulting in a series of pieces that are uniquely designed and printed by you! All levels welcome and you will be learning methods you can do on your own. Course can be repeated to build and expand upon printmaking practices, methods and skills. Please email to register and to ask questions to [email protected] $160. Class meets Wednesdays from 6-8 pm (4 classes: 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30). 8 students max.
Instructor: Meaghan Busch spent most of her adolescent life in Sarasota, Florida, which is known for its rich history and involvement with the Ringling Circus. She uses personal childhood narrative, nature and fiction for creative inspiration.She came as a transplant to D.C. in 2004 and She received her BFA from the Corcoran College of Art & Design in 2008. Meaghan then received her MFA in Critical Art Practices at George Mason University 2011. Her focus is in printmaking and sculpture, with her printed imagery often becoming the blueprints for her sculptural installations.She currently lives in VA and produces art on her own Press named “Blue Cat Press”.
