Do you like art? Do you like science? Would you like to dye your very own t-shirt? Come and see how these are connected.
Learn how to fold and dye your own unique t-shirt. We will use indigo dye, which will give you a color like blue jeans. It will involve real world science while we watch our shirts change from green to blue when taken out of the dye bath. Bring a washed plain 100% cotton white t-shirt in a size that fits you.
Please wear close-toed shoes and old clothes which can get stained. Dress for the weather as we will be outside some of the time.
Your teachers, Elizabeth Gibson and Susan Price have both taught elementary to high school students in Fairfax County for many years. They enjoy making their own unique fabric creations, especially dyeing and printing fabrics to wear or put into quilts. They have a blog and an Etsy store and can also be found on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.
