Open Mic Poetry - Featuring Virginia Poet Laureate Henry Hart and Bill Glose

Join us for our FREE open mic series on the first Friday of each month! The first hour is our featured poets and the second hour is open to anyone!

Henry Hart has published four books of poetry, biographies of James Dickey and Robert Frost, critical studies of Robert Lowell and Seamus Heaney, and numerous articles and poems in journals. He became Virginia’s poet laureate in 2017, and he continues to teach English at the College of William and Mary.

The author of four poetry collections, Bill Glose was named the Daily Press Poet Laureate in 2011 and featured by NPR on The Writer’s Almanac in 2017. His stories, poems, and essays have appeared in numerous publications, including The Missouri Review, The Sun, Rattle, Narrative Magazine, and The Writer. He has won major awards in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Among his honors are the F. Scott Fitzgerald Short Story Award, the Heroes’ Voices National Poetry Contest, and the Virginia Press Association First Place Award for Sports News Writing.
