Open Mic Poetry Featuring Sid Gold and Sally Zakariya

Sid Gold is the author of four full-length collections of poetry, the most recent of which is "Crooked Speech" (Pond Road Press, 2018). He is a two-time recipient of a Maryland State Art Council Individual Artist Award for Poetry. His work has appeared in a number of journals and reviews, among them Southern Poetry Review, Poet Lore, Gargoyle, Free State Review and Cimarron Review, and he has poems forthcoming in Backbone Mountain Review and Gargoyle. He has read in the Noonday Series at the Library of Congress, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library in DC, and on numerous occasions at the Writer's Center, both as a featured reader and in group and publication readings.

Sally Zakariya’s poetry has appeared in some 75 print and online journals and been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. Her most recent publication is The Unknowable Mystery of Other People (Poetry Box, 2019). She is also the author of Personal Astronomy, When You Escape, Insectomania, and Arithmetic and other verses, as well as the editor of a poetry anthology, Joys of the Table. A former magazine writer and editor, Zakariya has designed and self-published illustrated alphabet books on anatomy, food, literature, and other topics. She lives in Arlington with her husband and two cats and blogs at ButDoesItRhyme.com.
